No, when used properly. Remove the magnet when washing your car and periodically to clean the surface underneath. Do not apply to freshly painted surfaces (wait at least 90 days). Store flat when not in use.
Car magnets require a flat steel surface. They will not work on aluminum body panels, fiberglass, or heavily curved surfaces. Most cars and trucks have steel doors and fenders. Test with a small magnet first if unsure.
